MCU question: Why would Ms. Marvel or any of the public know about Captain Marvel?

Most of her battles and action were in space or on the battlefield where no public were present. She's not someone who would appear in front of Congress like Black Widow did, and without Black Widow managing things it doesn't seem like the surviving Avengers would have issued a press release about her. Who would know she even existed?
