both the candidates in this special election are running in November. They are both county executives. The Democrat is now running in a different district (which is the one I live in, he won the primary with like 85%) that will include the bulk of his county. The Republican candidate will run in the district he just lost, which will still contain his county, but apparently became slightly bluer with the redistricting.
