Devil's advocate: you're not really getting a great deal when a store "discounts" something after jacking its price up above normal.

That would be the structural change. I get the feeling we educate too many overseas students. They bring their money and keep prices high for everyone. -- (edited)

I’m not sure that’s the driver for high prices - in Australia, Canada etc full fee paying foreign students make it cheaper for locals to go to
