One of the casting choices in Sandman is exactly who I would've chosen. Here is how I think the casting meeting went.
|
Producer: Who should be offered the role of Fiddler's Green? Someone English assuredly. Large in frame. Proper but with a dash of insouciance. Someone like Stephen Fry.
Gaiman (in full Morpheus cosplay): GET FRY.
Producer: Do you think he'd do it? It's a rather small role but not unimportant....
Gaiman calmly and deliberately, without altering his expression or even blinking, removes his phone from his breast pocket and presses a single number.
Voice on the other end of the line: Yes, hello?
Gaiman: IT IS I, STEPHEN.
Voice now identified as Stephen Fry: Of course, I'd love to! When shall we begin?
