In the face of increased demand. And there are no other viable options for replacing ICE vehicles. Hydrogen is around 25-30% efficient, while electric is around 80-90% efficient.
Nevermind that the infrastructure to power EVs exists and can be expanded at much lower cost that creating hydrogen stations.
And you can't refuel a hydrogen car at home.
Hydrogen will have its uses, but it's not gonna be as fuel for personal vehicles in any quantity that matters.
