"Gogglebox is a show I don't understand. Is it people watching reality TV in their living rooms and commenting on it? -- nm"

It's a group of ordinary people watching whatever was on TV that week and commenting (the production company sends them what to watch that week).

Normally there'd be a drama, a nature show, a reality show or documentary, a couple of news items and a film.
There is some artifice to it, like they pretend they don't know the news already before they watch the news item and it tends to skew towards Channel 4 shows.
Shows that feature on Gogglebox do get a bit of a boost as it's one of Channel 4's most popular show.
It's a badge of honour to have one of your programmes selected though, we've even had one of our films chosen (Billy Elliot).
