For me, MVP is either a star for a winning team or the miles best guy on a loser. Call that 2nd part the ARod corollary.

Ohtani last year, fit that bill. He was a top 2 hitter and a good pitcher. This year, he’s probably about 5-8th in both.
Judge is ahead in WAR still. Judge wins.
