I agree for the most part, but that's not the argument you made.

You said people don't go to see mediocre product as much anymore, and that mid-range films should go multiplatform.

I'd argue that the multi-platform mid-range releases are the ones bordering on losing money (Marry Me for example), and aren't substantially helping their streaming companies.

There's no way theaters can stay afloat with just tentpole releases. They need the mid-range films I linked and more.

I think it's telling that Disney is trying to fill the gap with small releases (Avatar re-release, Barbarian, See How They Run, Brahmastra Part One) until the big releases come out. They're trying to take advantage of a market bereft of films, but also throwing theater owners a bone. Disney needs theaters still, and still wants to make them happy.
