Does anyone here serve on a board of directors? Can you describe your set-up and term lengths?

The board I'm on is considering changing its structure.

Currently the board looks like this:

20 General Board members that serve two year terms and can serve two terms back to back before needing to take one year off before they are eligible to serve again. We have 4 groups of 5 and a group gets replaced every year with a new slate of members.

5 Executive Board members. The Treasurer and Secretary are nominated and serve until they resign. They have no term limit, but are re-elected each year. There is a 2nd VP, a VP and a President, who each serve 1 year terms, but progress through the 3 positions. You start as 2nd VP and move to VP, then Pres. There is one ex officio member, the most recent past president.

We are exploring different ways of organizing to get a board that is more active and gives those serving more time to grow into and get good at their positions.

condo: 5 members, 2+2+1 election cycle for 3yr terms. The professional board I was on had 20 members and about half rotated 2yr terms. -- (edited) - Max Sep 28, 12:17 1
