I couldn't imagine being stuck in FL with no power and two small kids because I chose to stay on vacation during a hurricane.

It's one thing living there. You deal with it, especially if you can't or won't leave. But to stay for vacation during a hurricane make zero sense to me. Not to mention having to get back home for work driving through tons of devastation.
