He's in the exact right wheelhouse for this to be sort of a good idea.

I don't think it would've worked for Alan Rickman, too masterful of a thespian - not pretentious, but so skilled that he brought artistry to even the silly roles. And it wouldn't be worth it for someone who was un-talented. He's at just the right level of talent that a simulacrum would be sufficiently entertaining.
