So I might be sleep deprived but here's my pitch for live music and on a lesser extent there's always new music

FH and I went to The Roxy (on the Sunset Strip, that's either a location or me showing off depending on your venue knowledge) to see Maddie and Tae last night.
Cause at this point in my life, I'm some strange cross over of young enough to go to a 9PM ticket time (with two openers) Thursday show and old enough that I gotta get some laundry done (I'll be in Vegas for the weekend) that by the time we get there we've missed Abbey Cone who apparently went on promptly at 9PM.
But we had time to go to the bar and then see all of Sacha's set which is amazingly fun and good for her at this point in her career for holding a three song medley of Taylor Swift songs in her set so that when she finished with her material, the crowd was definitely on board. Given that listed capacity is in the hundreds, the fans that she did have made and incredible chorus singing along with her known songs.
Changing tracks in train of thought, the Roxy has a listed capacity of 500 people. In super contrast, there might have been that many people in the section we sat in at the Hollywood Bowl for CHVRCHES / Grace Jones on Sunday. I get that in the current world we live in that being shoulder to shoulder in a relatively small room with hundreds of people is your worst nightmare but for a live music fan there's nothing like it.
As a lover of live music, please take a chance and go to your local. Find out what that place is, do some research on the acts as if they're not known, there's often comparisons or what their inspirations were and if they match up with your musical tastes, buy a ticket and go.
We can't all go to the obvious must see of the six hour+ Taylor Hawkins tributes (though bow down to those who went) but there's still something about live music and whether being relatively upfront at a festival, shoulder to shoulder at a club, comfortably seated in your arena, indoor arena, there's still something about the live and shared experience.
Oh...and new music...I'm really hoping that I get a chance to see the command the room, can sing Sacha again. I'd never heard of her before yesterday when I looked up to see if there were any opening acts
With all the words so far, seems like I'm throwing Maddie and Tae under the bus by omission. I'm pretty sure that I had tickets cause they were on last year's $20 all in and then there was some re-scheduling and so there we were last night. OMG that duo/band are amazing. So much more than being the "Girl in the Country Song" and uh, the more stereotypical song about running home after her scumbag boyfriend leaves her....hey, this is supposed to be a pitch about taking a chance on live music ;-)

Cool. But if I was west coast, the tribute would have been beyond "Must See". And I am the guy that has never liked festival type concerts. -- nm

Word. Plus, you might get to see a band before they go huge in a small venue.

My budget doesn’t permit me to go to big money shows, so I certainly love the small venues with the lower prices and intimate crowds. -- nm

i'm now more likely to go to smaller bands with smaller crowds, which is good for music discovery. Pool Kids, a few others, are on my radar. -- nm
