Because of the rush to WFH for COVID they reconfigured ours to only be “active” when accessing the network.

yeah we have to use a VPN whenever not in the office, otherwise stuff just doesn't work.

Sounds about right. The only thing I really use hotel wifi for is back up the pictures I took that day to the cloud.
