sister-in-laws father passed away last week.
He went from fine to dead in under 2 weeks.
started having trouble breathing, went to doctor, got some tests and his lungs where smacked full of cancer. More tests, cancer also in liver and then they figure out it all started in the Thyroid (it has a name I can't remember but is brutal apparently). From first doctor visit to dead in around 10-14 days.
One of our best friends is at thanksgiving with her family. Her dad has Alzheimers and keeps asking her when she is coming for dinner cause he doesn't recognize her (brutal).
Have thought about this a lot after the SIL father passed. A quick death like his is good for him (limited suffering) but really shitty for the family (no time to come to terms). The friend's dad is brutal for the family. He doesn't know what he doesn't know but it wrecks them and once he passes he is at peace and the family can remember as he was rather than sick and suffering so better for them.
anyway, just a reminder that life is a gift, enjoy it. And thanks to all the members of ST past and present, you all are awesome.
Happy Thanksgiving
