Daughter saw her gyno today and the news is not great but not awful. She does have an ovarian cyst

And it is within 1cm of needing to be operated on to remove the cyst and possibly the ovary. As this is her only ovary, she'd lose her fertility.

She did receive a referral to a fertility specialist to begin the process of egg harvesting, but the time needed to do that may be greater than the time she has before needing surgery if the cyst isn't reabsorbed.

And a pregnancy through IVF without the ovaries to provide the necessary hormones is unlikely to succeed even with hormone support.

So she isn't in any immediate danger, healthwise, but the chances are pretty good that she won't be able to have any children unless she chooses to adopt.

And her fiance really does want kids so there's a lot to come to terms with there, too.

And I'm pretty damn bummed that I may not get to be a grandpa.
