as the massive haul for Hocus Pocus 2 indicates (Disney has been very clear about wanting to kill all backend participation for producers and talent)

which is what Disney Plus is really all about, in the long term. if Chapek could get away with never releasing another feature in theaters, he'd do it in a heartbeat and has said as much to the shareholders
