Aftershock Day 2: Hey, at least we went that day

I'm still doing the festival thing but apparently I'm not the thirty something who went to Lollapalooza or those early (for me) Coachella's as FH has made plans up to meet up with friend in Sacramento at 12:45. After a laid back lunch, we make our way to the remote parking area and I'm totally ok with this less than squeeze every moment out every day schedule.
There's none of the issues with day 1 as there's plenty of buses but there is the quirk that those of us with festival shuttle passes are asked to turn them in for writstbands that read "4 day". Well sure that's easier than fishing around for a plastic card as we're now just wearing the bands.
Make it to the grounds and the we've missed Spirit Box and Set It Off who I'd listed as if we're there then that's who we will see. So the first act up is NEMOPHILA who is an all woman, from Japan, completely shredding act. Ummm..so yeah, that's where we were. They were amazing and voting with my dollars that's the only act specific shirt that I would purchase for the festival.
Since this is day that we (I) didn't really have plan (see our late start), I follow FH to the Danzig set as quoting her "I've heard of Danzig" and I'm of a similar background. I didn't dislike the set but at the same time, that's another of the being a genre specific festival is teaching me that the genre is broad and I'm not super fan of all the variations.
I think we kind of end up hanging out a bit before we set up camp at GWAR who I think have been misplaced. As in they shouldn't be playing the smallest stage. As time goes on and our place which I thought was far back, gets completely engulfed by people around us, I'm pretty convinced of this. Turns out if you're gonna do the whole growling, super heavy version of rock, I'm OK with that if you give me a show. Oh, boy does GWAR put on a show and apparently we got an edited version as we get an over the top gore version but very little in the way of over the top sex. Actually other than some dialogue there's essentially no sex compared to what I've read of their headlining shows.
That leaves Kiss as the closer. Ok, remember from my day 1 report and the whole rock isn't dead but their fans are now old? That's even more exaggerated on this day. I've never been super fan but am familiar with their hits from pop culture touchpoints like Dazed and Confused. Since we're not super fans and perhaps just barely fans, FH and I choose to virtually watch this set from the secondary main stage. Hey, on a practical basis, it's closer to the exit ;-) We made it through four songs and called it an early night.
So yes for those counting that's all of four sets that kind of made it to. There's always tomorrow...
