In response to "ML, there are pretty dramatic differences between Abrams and Lake. Lake is making baseless claims of fraud in voting not supported by any evidence" by pmb

If you ignore everything she said leading up to her latest candidacy, sure!

Lake is a fool and opportunist, for all the reasons you outline.

Abrams is no less a fool--or opportunist. Her denialism is just more sophisticated than Lake's naked claims. She may have complaints about the system (which I disagree about but I'll credit her the argument!) but she's gone far beyond the sort of generalized systemic-based stuff than you're willing to acknowledge. To wit, she claimed the election was stolen from her. She maintained she won. She says the opposition cheated. She refused to concede that Kemp is the legitimate governor. She's blamed the boogeyman of voter suppression despite conceding she has no empirical evidence to support the claim.

Most of those statements were made close in time to the election in 2018-19 when she was being looked at as a rising star in advance of 2020. She's since moderated her stance along the lines you note more recently to increase her chances of getting elected this time around. Because no one likes an election denier.

So as she phrases things now, you're probably right to an extent! There's a fuzzy difference between and Lake. But you're a smart guy so let's not pretend her record starts in 2020. She played up her beliefs that the election was stolen from her until such tactics became untenable to get her the job she's again going to lose.
