It's fully acknowledged that the team competition isn't fair (different course difficulty/weather/etc.) It's more about building a global community.

The winner from each country gets a "golden ticket" to compete in the individual World Championship in Tennessee next year.
I think they're going to alternating Team/Individual championships from year to year. The Global competition came about in 2020 due to Covid travel restrictions. A bunch of countries did their own satellite events. It was successful enough that they decided to go with a World Team event this year.
