My daughter and I were talking about this yesterday. It's all so diabolical. You run the faster lap so you can rest, but your heart rate is higher so

it's harder to relax enough to sleep. Also, you sit down and rest your legs just long enough that they tighten up for when you have to go again. It's truly amazing.
