Poulin, Jenner, Nurse headline Hockey Canada roster for November Rivalry Series games

The Canadian women’s national hockey team’s roster for the November Rivalry Series games against Team USA features 16 players who were on the gold medal-winning team at the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship and 2022 Olympics.
The first three games are set to take place on Nov. 15 in Kelowna, B.C., Nov. 17 in Kamloops, B.C., and Nov. 20 in Seattle.
The roster, announced by Hockey Canada on Wednesday, includes Erin Ambrose, Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Ann-Renée Desbiens, Renata Fast, Brianne Jenner, Jocelyne Larocque, Emma Maltais, Emerance Maschmeyer, Sarah Nurse, Marie-Philip Poulin, Jamie Lee Rattray, Ella Shelton, Laura Stacey, Blayre Turnbull, Micah Zandee-Hart.
Elizabeth Giguere and Loren Gabel, players who signed with the Premier Hockey Federation’s Boston Pride, also appear on a major senior national team roster for the first time and could make an impact, with Giguere making her Team Canada debut. Claire Thompson is also a notable name on the squad after she missed the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship in Denmark.
Natalie Spooner, who is pregnant, is not listed, nor is Mélodie Daoust (personal) or any college players, such as Sarah Fillier.
The team was selected by coach Troy Ryan— who’s led the team since 2019 — and director of hockey operations Gina Kingsbury, with input from Cherie Piper, senior manager of player development and scouting. Ryan will be joined on the coaching staff by assistants Kori Cheverie, Doug Derraugh and Caroline Ouellette.
