I have only seen him in the one role so my mental image of him is pretty much the opposite of the way I see Reed.

But I would credit Marvel Studios if they went a different way with him. Tony and Strange are enough good guy mega geniuses with mega egos for the MCU. Part of why I applauded Ant-Man was that it was Lang instead of Pym for that exact reason.
