*nods* We are living this now as my wife's mother suffers with Alzheimer's. I'm learning how to be a comfort to her as she goes through this

none of it is helped by her fathers stubborn refusal to accept help and/or admit he needs it. She believes this will ultimately backfire on him as when he finally does it will be too late and all his efforts to keep her life "normal" now will destroy what they could have if they were planning for it now.
I just try to be thankful my parents are both relatively healthy right now though their friend circle is starting to encounter this as well. One of their close friends has been in the hospital for months and deteriorating. I'm in no way looking forward to this aspect of the next dozen or so years.
