The dog raised $3400 alone for the domestic violence shelter

There was both a silent and a live auction tonight. The puppy kicked off the live auction portion.

The mayor got into a bidding war with another guy over the dog. The other guy bid $1600, and the mayor bid $1700 and the other guy dropped out. The mayor went up to the auctioneer and whispered to him. The auctioneer then told the other guy that if he would match the mayor at a $1700 donation, the other guy could actually have the dog.

So the puppy raised $3400 by itself. I met the puppy before the auction. As it licked my hand, I almost lost my resolve to not bid on it.
