When you say you’re going to buy a company, you speak in simple platitudes. You talk about maintaining the course, about increasing revenue and reducing overhead while “optimizing efficiencies”. You show up with a team who does the homework and tells you everything you need to know. And, of course, then you follow through on the purchase without having to be dragged to court because you couldn’t be bothered to do your due diligence in the place!
Sure, afterwards, you break everything. But even then, you don’t announce it beforehand. See David Zaslav at WBD who cuts everything and doesn’t tweet about it before doing it.
