He doesn’t call plays and he’s not a coach on the team. There’s no way he is up to snuff on the actual day to day of the team.

You have legitimate coaches day in and day out there. Sacrifice one of them.
This is a “dear god, let’s sacrifice this team legend” level of lack of succession planning.
