So was their intent that identity validation would mirror email in such that instead of disconnected instances you would have company/organization

servers in all instances so that if you wanted to validate [email protected], then company.com should be a Mastadon server much like you set up an email server? I assume there is something inherent that prevents anyone from setting up a company.com server? And then if so, the proliferation of various "mastadon domains" is a bit of a perversion of the email system?
