Yep. And a lot of distributed generation could go hand in hand with that.

Car parks with charging and solar canopies or wind turbines, with batteries.
The solutions aren't complicated or in need of anything esoteric.
Just like long trips in EVs require a different plan (for now) to charge along the way, so will everyday charging for awhile.
And, honestly if you're just using a car with 200-300 miles of range for daily tasks, you probably only need to worry about charging 2 or 3 times a week. And it can be done while doing other things, unlike gassing up.
