I have some reasons for why I haven't personally started one, but there's not really very much stopping me from it.

1) As a community, we already have a social connection.

2) Masto.host is $6/mo, which is fine, except that new signups are closed right now

3) I don't know if a DigitalOcean $6/mo droplet is powerful enough to host a Mastodon instance

4) I'm not sure what domain I'd put it on, because slackertalk.com is used by the forum. I do own slackertalk.net, slackertalk.app, slackertalk.ca ... webtastic.ca ... greasyspork.com ... wontondestruction.com ... thotter.com ... and I could always buy one.

But if folks really want me to start one, I could.
