Honestly if you’re buying a Mac (ha!), it will easily last six years.

You may need to replace the battery in that time but that’s really about it. I’d have no qualms about buying now.
That said, if she’s doing an art/animation camp is it drawing? Does she have an ipad? That might be better suited to that with a pencil. That’s how my kid does all of her drawing now.
