Yep. I would strongly recommend a Mac for Mac as well.

My previous one lasted... I dunno, 8 years? Maybe more. I added memory to it at one point. Honestly, I was happy with it, but wound up getting a new one.
Current one is 3 years old and I don't see needing a replacement anytime soon. I could probably eventually move to an iPad with a keyboard and be good.
