The stub timeline has been getting fucked with for at least a decade, according to Billings. So some stuff (the haptics) is future tech that has leaked to the public, but other stuff (the invisible cars) is sort of need-to-know. And the doodad was never sent back until they hired the hitman. It's brand new for the stub.
