Exactly. I've almost done the same thing a couple times.

And he's just the type to panic when he got back to the hotel room, then become too afraid to return the bag, then rationalize the situation as "finders keepers," and then continue a series of unfortunate choices ending up with federal theft charges.
Poor kid.
