reminds me of when The Phone Company charged extra to not be listed in the phonebook, this led to people using pseudo names, I.P.Freely

but later that came to bite people in the ass. they would require the registered owner of the account to make any changes to the plan or get service... there's not Mr Freely, well then we will just close the account and you'll need to get a another number
