The alternatives, at a *very* high level, seem to be:
- China didn't have a zero-covid policy and this happened sooner
- China maintained its zero-covid policy until....forever?

I'm not educated in this field though, so I'm sure I'm missing some nuance and other avenues of mitigation.

It's horrible regardless.
