probably didn't get a college degree or certainly isn't using it. Maybe they went/are going to community college, maybe they need to save or pay debt.

Both scenarios are valid but we apply old expectations to the 24 yr old that we don't adjust to acknowledge they have more in common with a 16 yr old from 1995 than a 24 yr old from 1995.
