It's a problem with any Clancy property. The new handlers aren't aiming for the future state of things. I mean, some things are only obvious in hindsight. The advance on Ukraine is not one of those things; however, the success of the resistance has definitely been a surprise.
They're adapting his stories to what it's like at the time of their adaptation. That's probably also why the Venezuela season landed with such poor timing. They looked at the world as it was, and chose poorly.
This season seems to be Sum Of All Fears. Still very relevant in a modern context, but the geopolitics have shifted rapidly this year and the story couldn't keep up. They probably thought about this a lot over the past six months... and likely decided it would be more fun (not to mention sane and affordable) to keep the season as-is, no reshoots.
