They talk about Russia moving troops through Ukraine as though Ukraine is cooperating (or already conquered?). They are non-specific as to why/how; but they say that Russian troops have been moved to the Slovakian border.
So it deviates very much from our current reality, HOWEVER, the basic plot is that someone is trying to bait Czechia (which they call Czech Republic - catch up, writers!) into allowing the installation of NATO missiles. Which is kind of what Russia is actually doing right now. They're trying to worm their way into a situation where they get to play the victim card and say "oh no! nato is on our doorstep, we must defend ourselves!". And so far, a line is being very delicately danced around to avoid that from happening.
But in our world, something is bound to give. Probably in mid-january, is my guess, but we'll see. I'm pretty much wrong about everything, at least on short-term timescales.
