Marvel snap tip about Luke's bar location.

The most cards you can have in your hand is 7. So if you have 7 cards in your hand and play sentinel it will stay. This happens because card effects happen before location effects and the sentinel duplicate you get fills your hand back to 7 leaving no spot for the sentinel you played to be returned to.
