We have a lot of illegal shops selling out in the open right now. Nearly every bodega sells weed and weed products like edibles today.

I wouldn't buy from them as their product is mediocre at best and all overpriced. The edibles aren't close to what they're advertised to be as far as potency.
The law here was set up to prioritize giving the businesses to those that were previously convicted of marijuana offenses. Things have been very slow to get moving as we passed the law two years ago. The state has really dragged their heels on this and that's allowed the illegal shops to proliferate.
Despite the law the first dispensary is being opened by a non-profit that helps the formerly incarcerated and the homeless. They're a good charity but it's not exactly what people were expecting.
