Filmora is a video editing product like iMovie or Premiere. They used to sell lifetime licenses. Guess what they did?

At some point they changed the TOS so that your lifetime license didn’t allow you to upgrade to new versions. This guy - who did a lot of Filmora tutorials on his YouTube channel - when on a holy crusade against time. Filmora rested their argument on the change of their TOS. Essentially, at some point if you installed a new version you accepted new TOS which terminated your lifetime license and future upgrades would have required you to pay the standard fee. Lifetime no more. He did two videos on it, then Filmora filed a takedown on YouTube on his videos, so he did another video. Then LTT did a story on it, and Filmora broke… kinda. His latest video is at the link below. But the short of it is they’re blaming a misunderstanding (no, they were very clear about what was happening) and also promising only a free upgrade to the latest version (I assume that the next version won’t be free). This is hardly a victory but by the time the next version comes out, the outrage will have been diffused so they only have to swallow their pride and arrogance for a little while.
