Speaking of Taylor Sheridan's shows, all of which I watch, I still can't figure out which message he thinks he's promoting. -- (edited)

* All the hero characters talk about how you have to be tough to survive, but they spend their lives bitching and moaning about how tough life is.
* The current Duttons had their ranch life handed to them and insist this is the way of life everyone should want and respect while chastising cities and and tourists, yet they can barely keep the 'business' of it profitable. This season they're basically bailing out on Montana for Texas.
* They make a big deal about nature and living with the land and not on it, despite relying on trucks and helicopters the indigenous people didn't have, and the tribes are a secondary presence while the cowboys are the heroes.
* They're the only ranch that seems to need beatings and murders to keep both their workers in line and shortcut difficulties with opponents. When they couldn't train Jimmy to be a proper cowboy, they sent him to Texas because the ranches in Texas are capable.
Also, if being a cowboy is the pinnacle of life, why aren't you living in a bunk house instead of going all Hollywood, Mr. Sheridan?
