Can someone tell me what to root for here? And what are the actual effects of what I'm rooting for? (NM)

Right now, it's a done deal there will be a second vote. This vote is roll call by voice and takes over an hour.

it's a big blow to any power he may have had.. he clearly can't control his party, he cannot control with any certainty any votes. -- nm

My understanding is that it’s Scalise’s to lose if (when?) McCarthy fails. -- (edited)

I don't think even his fans want him speaking for the party.. he's great on a committee to ask stupid "outrage" questions, but

Once a speaker is elected, you’d have to have a majority support for a motion to vacate in order to have another vote for speaker.

Depends on the rules. Currently, I believe it takes a majority of the ruling party but McCarthy gave away the house to lower it to 5 GOP to call -- (edited)
