Well, in the case of the VPN, my main reason for recommending that one is because it helps to fund the Mozilla Foundation. And also because it works.

But keep in mind that a lot of vpn paid ads make promises that don't necessarily apply for day to day usage. I don't use my vpn all the time. Maybe once or twice a month, for a few minutes at a time.
