Yes, but it's also just a huge right wing talking point and a huge problem with apps like Nextdoor. Everything is in your face all the time.

I actually get in arguments with my wife about it. She's terrified because she reads every nextdoor post, news report, etc. and I'm always telling her that there has always been crime, but we still live in a safe neighborhood. Yes, it's worse than in prior years, but there's this sense that it was safer when we were kids, when it's exactly the opposite. I'm not saying there aren't issues. There definitely are. It has trended in the wrong definition in the last few years in a real, noticeable way. But it's still better than it was 40 years ago.
