Putting a pin in this dog name so I don't forget before Monday when we pick her up: River.

We have other options, but this is the first one where we both went "hmmmm... maybe".

Still need to spend some time with the pup in our home to be sure of her personality and what sounds good when we call.

Picking names is hard. Both of us have had pets all our lives, so lots of names that would be a repeat and that's straight out. No names that are the same or similar to friends and family.

The name needs to be short, no more than 3 syllables. Needs to be shortenable or have a diminutive. Can't sound similar to a current pet's name. Can't be embarrassing to call out 15-20 times a day.

The funniest name I heard suggested was Marbles. Not going with it, but it did make me laugh. If she gets out: "Help! I've lost my Marbles!"
