Speaking of karma, I'm guessing I got my share for mocking those Texas consumers who got hit with market pricing during their freeze. ComEd screwed -- (edited)

me on Christmas because of the weather. We're on hourly pricing and from 12am to 5am on Christmas the average electricity price was $1.90/kWh (high of $2.6). Of course we were charging the car and our 45 kWh of usage cost us $85. Normal rate is 0.05

Their customer support chat is expectedly unsympathetic (that's how the program works) but it is especially painful as a new participant.

Good news is (I guess) is that they have IFTTT integration so there is some hope that I could set up some kind of automated cutoff of the EV charger when the energy cost is that high (though that could leave me stuck in terms of travel) but I still have a bit of work to do on that front to figure out how that would work with our Kia, Grizzl-E (non-smart), or raw outlet.
