Vince was threatening some stuff in December, but people presume he just wanted attention.
William Regal got fired by WWE and immediately found a home at AEW last March. However, his best friend (and former tag team partner) is HHH. So, he asked AEW to let him out of his three-year contract in December so that he could rejoin WWE, where his son is training on the NXT roster.
AEW consented because everyone loved William Regal. The dude has been back at WWE for 48 hours -- no joke -- and just learned that the dude who fired him is back in charge.
