Indeed. I'm going to test my handyman skills also. I have a puzzle mat to lay on the desk but those silly straps holding the desk face are in the way

I bought some gasket "soft open" hinges and I'm going to try installing them so they lock open at 90 degrees but also stop the desk from flapping open. Should be able to remove the straps and latches letting the mat lay flat when open
