IIRC foreclosures have to be advertised in the paper at least twice if they are being auctioned (at least that's the way it was when I worked at a paper) - a lot of papers will have a section or a site online that has the area foreclosed properties listed, along with the dates they're being auctioned. I'm not sure about the ones that are given to realtors to market.
